The Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) board met April 10, 2019. Present were: Lori Seymour, Roger Martin, W.C. Farmer, Craig Corken, and Eryn Stepp. Monica Bailey and Carol Clark were also present.

Board members voted to approve minutes and financials as presented.

ACDC’s share of the April election cost was $4,123.52. Board members voted to amend the budget (increase “Miscellaneous” to $4,623.52 and increase “Transfer from reserves” to $11,940.52) to ensure a balanced 2019 budget.

Director’s Report–

The economic development sales tax passed by 79.7% on April 2. Bailey (and/or board members) met with 30 civic and community groups around the county in February and March to discuss ACDC’s efforts and how economic development sales tax funds are utilized.

Community lunches were held in Tarkio (55), Rock Port (60), and Fairfax (35).

Junior Job Shadowing Day was held Friday, March 22, and went well.

Bailey gave an update on the 2019 BI Grant.

Wind tax legislation update: on April 2, SB 72 was heard in the House Utilities Committee and HB 220 was heard in the Senate Ways and Means committee. Bailey testified in support of this legislation at both hearings. Specific language is being applied to both bills. Both are expected to be passed out of their respective committees without issue.

NEW BUSINESS–

A grant application from MDT Woodworks was reviewed. Board members approved MDT for a $3,000 BI Special Project Grant.

The group reviewed nonprofit support requests that have been submitted since the last meeting. Bailey will be in touch with applicants.

The 2019 scholarship recipients were selected.
