Missouri Western State University held a Chemathon competition April 9 on campus. The day consisted of a morning written exam and an oral team competition followed by an afternoon Amazing Periodic Table Race. Those participating were RyAnne Herron, Mackenzie Lager, Harlee Pritt, Kadyn Dowdy, and Ethan Lucas. Two Blue Jays placed in the top 10. Ethan Lucas placed second on the written exam for Chemistry I – Small Schools division earning a medal and certificate and RyAnne Herron placed eighth on the exam earning a certificate and a “Mole” periodic table. The Small Schools division consists of districts with 200 students or less in 9-12.
