The Rock Port High School Scholar Bowl Team, having won District 16, faced the winner of District 15, the North Andrew Cardinals, in the Sectional round of the State Scholar Bowl Tournament on April 17.

In the first match, the Blue Jays beat the Cardinals 280-260. The Jays lost the second match to the Cardinals 200-280, but rallied and won the third match 280-230.

Points scored for the night were: Captain Ethan Lucas, 250; Josie Watkins, 30; and Ayden Wilroy, 10.

The Blue Jays and seven other schools will travel to Columbia, Missouri, on Friday, May 3, to compete for the state title. Rock Port will first compete against Stanberry at 10:00 a.m.

This is Rock Port’s second team to compete at the state level having previously qualified in 2007.
