The Blue Jays had a fair season of basketball, winning eight of the 17 games. Three tournaments were entered, but the Jays did not win any of them. The boys, however, did advance to the semi-finals of the Holt County tournament, only to be eliminated by Craig. The following boys competed in this sport: Bob Crabtree, Norman Long, Hardin Cox, Charles Fox, Stewart Harmes, Harold Poppa, Kermit Hunter, Billy Harmon, Danny Vogler, Robert Vogler, Carl Vogler, Billy Stoner, Eddie George, Paul Estus, Junior Graves, Billy Harrington, Jim George, Duane Deatz, Jim Frede,Kenneth Lawless, Earl Lester and Gordon Wells.

The 43 acre bottom land known as the Lettie Breazile farm, west of Nishnabotna sold at auction April 25. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Haer purchased the land for $460 per acre, according to the records of Probate Court.
The Marshal Marlatt home at 602 S. Kansas Street has been purchased by the Rock Port R-2 School District for $7,000. Plans call for the school to use the home for special interest classes such as remedial high classes and possibly junior high home economics. The rest of the lot is to be used for parking and possibly installation for mobile classrooms according to Supt. Ted Windes.
Mrs. Merle Walter and Mrs. John Knierim were hostesses of the National Liberty Belles Extension Club April 16. with 13 members present. Mrs. John Knierim read a poem, “Spring House Cleaning,” and Mrs. Yvonne Thiesfeld, Fairfax, gave a demonstration on chenille bump flowers. Hostess gifts were received by Mrs. Hal Burke and Mrs. Bill DeBuhr. The May meeting will be held at the home Mrs. Marion Mifflin with Mrs. Otto Sutter as co-hostess.

Tiffany Holmes has been selected as the May Teen-of-the-Month by the Rock Port Optimist Club. Tiffany is the daughter of Chris and Hollis Holmes of Watson, Missouri. She has one brother, Scott.
Rodney and Dianna O’Connell announce the birth of a daughter, Maggie Erin, born April 26, 1994 at the Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri. Maggie weighed 7 pounds 4.2 ounces and was welcomed home by Anna Quilla, 2.
