In preparation for the 2019 Atchison County Fair, 4-H and FFA youth brought some of their project animals – market hogs, market lambs, and meat goats – to weigh-day on Saturday, April 27, at the Atchison County fairgrounds in Rock Port. A total of 76 hogs, averaging 113 pounds, were weighed for 31 exhibitors. There were 13 market lambs, with an average weight of 76 pounds, weighed for six youth, and 12 meat goats, averaging 42 pounds, weighed for six youth.

These start weights will be subtracted from the animal’s final weight at the fair and divided by the number of days between weights for the rate-of-gain contest. 4-H and FFA members also had the opportunity to nominate their hogs, lambs, and goats for the Missouri State Fair.
