It’s just like “getting back home” for Mrs. Pauline Broten since she has again taken over the management of the Ritz. She purchased this popular place from Mrs. Vernon Wood last week and took possession on Sunday.

The Chase. Denholm service station at the crossroads east of Linden was entered the other night by someone who went through a basement window. The thief got some small change and some pipe. Mr. and Mrs. Denholm are visiting in the Dakotas and during their absence Charles Wolf has been in charge of their station.

The Rock Port Telephone Company will hold an open house Sunday, October 12, in Rock Port. The places of interest to be seen are the office, the warehouse, and the central office. The telephone company has recently completed construction on an addition to the office building. The new buildings are a great improvement over the same spot a few years ago.

King and queen candidates are Nancy Harmon, Kathy Spittler, Diane Rolf, Rick Meyerkorth, Ron Oswald, and Barry Gaines.

October 6, 1994

Michelle Bennington, a 1990 graduate of Rock Port High School, is now student teaching in the fourth grade with Mrs. Sue Heits. She is majoring in Elementary Education and Early Childhood at Northwest Missouri State University.

Aron Burke, son of Richard and Jan Burke, was recently named to the Dean’s list at UMKC School of Medicine for the summer session. Aron earned a 4.0 GPA while completing 15 hours of anatomy courses and one hour of clinic for a total of 16 credit hours.

The ninth annual Operation Jason Fishing Derby raised around $2,000. The fishing derby has helped many children since it began.
