Mrs. Hurst’s kindergarten class at Fairfax R-3 received 10 wiggly friends last Tuesday. The class is studying butterflies with the help from the University of Missouri Atchison County Extension 4-H Youth Program Associate Sam O’Riley. The class will watch as these caterpillars shed their exoskeletons several times as they grow. They then will be able to see them go into chrysalis form and later hatch to a butterfly. The class is excited to see this transformation. If you would like to learn more about the 4-H youth programming and clubs in Atchison County, please call the Atchison County Extension at 660-744-6231. (Submitted by Sam O’Riley)
