Rock Port Volunteer Fire Department firemen and two EMTs from the Atchison-Holt Ambulance District visited Rock Port Elementary Thursday, October 10, for Fire Prevention Week.
Fireman W.C. Farmer gave a virtual tour of the fire house so that the kids could see all of the fire trucks and equipment inside the firehouse. They also showed the kids some of the equipment they use in fires and emergency situations, like a thermal vision camera and the Jaws of Life.
The volunteer fire department handed out activity books to all the kids before giving them rides on the fire truck.

Kindergartener Piper McKenney and her dad, volunteer fireman Jacob McKenney, got to ride old “Mack” together during the Fire Prevention activities at Rock Port Elementary on Thursday, October 10.

The Atchison-Holt Ambulance District brought an ambulance to Rock Port Elementary so the kids could see what all goes on inside the ambulance. AHAD EMTs Clint Vanderpool and Taylor Ireland gave tours of the ambulances.

W.C. Farmer, a volunteer fireman for Rock Port, showed the preschool through third graders a smoke alarm and discussed the importance of checking the batteries and making sure your home has working alarms.
