The Fairfax FCCLA chapter gained four new members this year. For initiation, the chapter started with breakfast in the family and consumer sciences classroom and followed with dressing up the new initiates.

This year’s theme was “Wizard of Oz.” Zachary King played the scarecrow, Adriana Ramirez was Dorothy, Trinity Wooten was the Yellow Brick Road and Sadie Williams played the Tin Man. These new members had fun skipping around the track singing their theme song to the tune of “Wizard of Oz.” When addressed by members and former members they responded with their given phrase.

The formal initiation ceremony was held October 7. It was conducted by the FCCLA officers: Gena Mitchell, president; Nicholas Hardisty, vice-president; Jesse Graves, treasurer; Jaycee Graves, secretary; Morgan O’Riley, reporter; and Stormie Wallace, historian.

After the induction ceremony, the new members, parents, guests, and officers enjoyed visiting and refreshments of cake and punch were served. The chapter looks forward to the coming year with their new members.
