Friday, October 16, 2019, was Senior Night for the East Atchison Wolves. They faced the Stanberry Bulldogs at Memorial Field in Fairfax.

EA won the toss and elected to receive the ball. After a short kick-off the Wolves started on their own 34 yard line. The offense covered the distance in four plays, including a 40 yard run by Jake McEnaney, who also scored the first points of the night, 10:31 in the first quarter. The two-point conversion was no good, EA 6, Stanberry 0.

The Bulldogs began from their own 32 yard line, finding the endzone in three plays. The two-point conversion failed and with 9:38 left in the first quarter the score was EA 6, Stanberry 6.

After the ensuing kick-off  the Wolves had a first and 10 from their own 33 yard line. Kaylin Merriweather took the hand-off from McEnaney and ran the 47 yards for the score. With 9:30 left in the first quarter the score was EA 14, Stanberry 6. Gus Hurst caught a pass from McEnaney (10 of 14) to convert the two-point attempt.

Ian Hedlund recovered a Bulldog fumble to stop the next Stanberry drive. This gave the Wolves the ball on the Bulldog 33 yard line. Two plays later McEnaney capped off the two play scoring drive with an 11 yard run. Hedlund hauled in a pass from McEnaney on the two-point conversion to make the score EA 22, Stanberry 6, with 8:43 left in the first quarter.

The next drive for the Bulldogs started on their own 30 yard line. In two plays Stanberry found the endzone again.  The two-point conversion failed to make the score EA 22, Stanberry 12.

The Wolves were forced to punt on their next two drives. Then Braden Graves grabbed an interception to give the Wolves a first and 10 at the Bulldog 33 yard line. Eight plays later Hedlund caught a pass from McEnaney to make the score EA 28, Stanberry 12 with 9:22 left in the second quarter. The two-point conversion failed.

Forced to punt on their next offensive possession, Briacin Bywater fielded the punt and gave the Wolves excellent field position on the Bulldog 26 yard line. Merriweather caught a pass from McEnaney to cover the distance, making the score EA 36, Stanberry 12. The two-point conversion was made when McEnaney connected with Hedlund, leaving 6:17 in the second quarter.

Gus Hurst stopped the next Bulldog drive when he intercepted a Stanberry pass. Converting in three plays, Bywater broke loose for 27 yards to score for the Wolves. The two-point conversion failed, making the score EA 42, Stanberry 12. That would conclude the first half of play.

The Bulldogs were on offense to start the second half. The Wolves’ defense forced the three and out, giving them the ball on the 40 yard line following the Stanberry punt. Hurst finished the four play drive pulling down a McEnaney pass for the score. Hedlund caught the two-point conversion attempt from McEnaney. With 9:11 left in the third quarter the score was EA 50, Stanberry 12.

Josh Smith and Hedlund combined for a sack on the Stanberry one yard line, forcing the Bulldogs to punt. With good field position on the Stanberry 19 yard line Bywater covered the 19 yards to make the touchdown. McEnaney converted the two-point attempt, bringing the score to EA 58, Stanberry 12.

Hurst recovered a Bulldog fumble to give the Wolves the ball at the Stanberry 23 yard line. EA moved the ball across the goal line in five plays. Carter Holecek scored for the Wolves on a three yard dive play. Braden Graves ran in for the two-point conversion giving EA 66, Stanberry 12.

On the following kick-off Ashton Yeary recovered a Bulldog fumble, giving the Wolves the ball on the Stanberry 15 yard line. Stanberry caused a fumble on the third down, giving the ball back to the Bulldogs on their own six yard line. The Bulldogs gave the ball right back on the next play with another fumble on the four yard line, recovered by Jordan Goodin. Smith, now at quarterback, threw a pass to Goodin to make the score EA 74, Stanberry 12. Smith converted the two-point attempt.

Austin Anderson brought the next Bulldog drive to an end with an interception and scored the final touchdown of the evening on a six yard run. The two-point conversion failed making the final score EA 80, Stanberry 12.

The final regular season game will be Friday, October 25, 2019, in Barnard, Missouri, against Platte Valley.
