Senior quarterback Alex Burke helped the Blue Jays keep the ball moving with a team total of 61 passing yards during the Blue Jays’ final regular season game against Mound City.

Senior Austin Stoner and sophomore Colten Stevens bring down a Mound City Panther. The Blue Jays begin District play on Friday, November 1, and will face Mound City again.

As the seniors and their parents lined up on the track, Rock Port was getting ready to play their last regular season game against the Mound City Panthers. The Panthers came in ranked fourth in the state with a record of 6-2.

To start the game, Rock Port would receive the ball. The Jays would run three plays and punt the ball. This would set the tone for the night. Rock Port had a total of 74 yards on the night, 61 passing and 13 rushing.

On Mound City’s first possession they ran two plays and scored. At the end of the first quarter it was 0-24 Mound City.

At times, the defense showed some fire. To start the second quarter, they had the Panthers on a fourth down and long and couldn’t contain the quarterback who picked up 25 yards to set up their next score. Mound City went on to score 52 points throughout the evening.

The Blue Jays will start District play and travel to Mound City on Friday to take on the Panthers once again.
