November 17, 1944

• An Armistice program and memorial service for the men of the local community, who have lost their lives in the present war, were held at the school building Monday evening under the sponsorship of the American Legion. The Rev. C.W. McCoy, pastor of the local Baptist Church, made the address. There were musical numbers by Mrs. William Sly, Misses Sadie Ellen Donelson, Mary Ardis Sly, Francis Bowness, and Joe D’Andrea. The Rev. Harold W. Dodson offered the invocation, the Rev. S.A. Whysong read the scripture and the Rev. Charles A. Finch pronounced the benediction.

• Max V. Robinson, former Fairfax Postmaster, visited with old friends here this week. Mr. Robinson is with the Associated Press at Jacksonville, Florida. He was postmaster here about 30 years ago.

November 20, 1969

• It was a fun party last Thursday night in the old gym when FFA and FHA members assembled with guests for an old-fashioned hoedown. The gym was appropriately outfitted with bales of hay for benches. A great deal of square dance learnin’ was gained by the large group from old pro Eugene Ingram, square dance caller and instructor. Highlight of the evening was the revealing of the FFA Sweetheart and Favorite Fellow: Nancy Jones and Mike Whittington.

• DeWayne Koenig was the only Bulldog listed on the 275 All-Conference Football Team. He was designated as a lineman on the defensive slate.

• Fairfax high school students will appear on “Let’s Dance” at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, on channel 2 KQTV. About 70 youth, along with sponsors, will be making the trip.

November 17, 1994

• The Fairfax Bulldogs will play for the State Championship on Saturday, November 19, in Maryville. The Bulldogs will face North Andrew.

• The Mid-America Health Network, better known throughout the region as HealthNet, announced it is expanding its network of hospitals further into northwest Missouri, adding Community Hospital of Fairfax to its preferred provider organization. Eleven physicians affiliated with this hospital also became part of the HealthNet PPO.

• The Agriculture Stabilization Conservation Service (ASC) has been changed to Farm Service Agency (FSA).
