Rankin Hall, on the campus of Tarkio College, was built in 1932 to replace the previous college administration building that had been destroyed by fire in 1930. The building included offices, classrooms, a banquet room and a beautiful chapel. It was the center of activities at the college and is beloved by alumni. After the closing of Tarkio College in 1992, the premises alternated from vacancy to use by companies that provided housing and education for adjudicated youth. Rankin Hall was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. The Tarkio College Alumni Association (TCAA) leased Rankin Hall in 2011 and began renovation on the building for use as a museum and for alumni and community activities. TCAA obtained ownership of Rankin Hall and the majority of the former campus in 2016, and then granted ownership to Tarkio College in 2019. Plans are to continue to renovate Rankin Hall and to use it for the benefit of the College and the surrounding community.
