• Mrs. W.A. Groesbeck, while recently looking through some old papers belonging to her father, J.H. Punshon, found two old newspapers that are of much interest. One is a copy of the Ulster County Gazette, published at Kingston, Ulster County, New York, on January 4, 1800, which contains the obituary of George Washington. The second newspaper is the Vicksburg Daily Citizen, published at Vicksburg, Mississippi, on July 3, 1863. It is a one-sheet paper and was printed on wallpaper. The editor announced that issue was the last to be printed on wallpaper, as the banner of the Union then floated over Vicksburg and General Grant had dined in the city.
