• Thirteen crewmen parachuted safely from a burning four-engine bomber which crashed about eight miles east of Tarkio Thursday afternoon of last week. The plane, which was on routine training mission from its home base at Herington, Kansas, had gotten into difficulty some time before it reached this part of the country, as attested by the fact that the crew bailed out over a wide territory, only part of the men falling in this section. The pilot was W.L. Geyer of Mena, Arkansas, and the co-pilot C.B. Uber of Howell, Michigan. They came down in the vicinity of the crash. Some of the others landed across the Missouri River in Nebraska.
