Melinda (Long) Macke passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2019, in a cancer hospital at Tyler, Texas. She was born to Juanita and Norman Long at Shenandoah, Iowa, December 30, 1961. Melinda and her family lived in several towns in Iowa. She came to live with her grandmother, Etta Hunter, and attend Rock Port High School and graduated with the class of 1980.

After she graduated, Melinda attended Bauder Fashion College in Dallas, Texas, and received a degree in fashion merchandising. She married Paul Burns after graduating from college. Later, she home-schooled her two children, Heather and Ian. For many years, she worked at ETMC as an ER clerk and material manager. Her outlook on life was always open, optimistic, and faithful.

Melinda was preceded in death by her father, Norman Long; and her first husband, Paul Burns. She is survived by her loving husband, John Macke, and son, Henry Macke; daughter, Heather (Burns) Davis and husband, Brian, of Streetman; son, Ian Burns, and wife, Jennifer, of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Jake, Kendra, Lynlee, Hayden, and Kylea; her sister, Christina Miller; her brother, John Long; and her mother, Juanita Long.
