The Farmers Bank opened for business in 1907 on the northwest corner of Fourth and Main Streets. J.A. Postlewait was the first president. It operated at this location until 1933, when it merged with The Tarkio Valley Bank. Other businesses have occupied this building, including Olga Sons’ Flower Bowl and various insurance and realtors offices until the present day. This picture was painted by Edna O’Dell and is featured in a book, “Tarkio Memories – Through the Art of Edna McCoy O’Dell,” being sold by Tarkio College.
