The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry Board is reminding clients of the opening dates for the months of January and February. In January the pantry will be open January 21, 23, 28, and 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. On Tuesday, January 21, the pantry will also be open in the evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In February the pantry will be open February 18, 20, 25, and 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. On Tuesday, February 18, it will also be open in the evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Tarkio Catholic Church will be responsible for opening the pantry in January. In February, the Fairfax Methodist Church will open the pantry.

A reminder that if schools are closed due to inclement weather, the food pantry will also be closed. If the schools have a two-hour delay the pantry will also have a delayed opening from 10:00 – 12:00 noon.

The food pantry received many donations of food items and monetary donations during the holidays.

Many individuals, organizations and churches held special food drives and the board was most appreciative. The pantry served 65 families during the month of December which is a marked increase over the last several months. Despite the many donations the pantry will need help in stocking their shelves for the winter months. Chili with beans, brownie mixes, sugar, flour, Sunny D juice and toilet paper are items that are needed.

The next board meeting will be January 14 at 9:30 a.m. The food pantry is located at 315 Main Street in Tarkio.
