The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has selected Andrew Siwy as the new senior resident inspector at Cooper Nuclear Station near Brownville, Nebraska. Siwy joined the NRC in 2014 in the Division of Reactor Projects at the agency’s Region I office in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. He served as the resident inspector at the Indian Point nuclear power plant in New York. He previously worked as an engineer for Duke Energy in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nuclear engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. Siwy joins resident inspector Michael Stafford. They serve as the agency’s eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
