The Rock Port Tourism Board met Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Jennifer Alvarez, Holly Huntley, Tami Lansdown, Chris Shimmel, and Jody Vansickle. Members absent were Mike Farmer, Angela Mace, and Kallie Sherwood. Also present was City Clerk Emily Schulte.
The meeting agenda was approved.
Board members also approved the November 5, 2019, meeting minutes, and the November and December, 2019 financials.
Meetings will be changed to the second Thursday of the month.
Two bids need to be assembled: one for a turbine site clean-up and another for a regular mowing and maintenance agreement.
Board members approved the appointments of Jennifer Alvarez as Tourism board chairman, and Holly Huntley as Tourism board vice chairman. The secretary/treasurer position is now vacant as Holly was appointed as vice chairman. The position appointment was tabled until the next meeting.
No applications have been received for the empty position on the Tourism Board.
Events from 2019 were discussed.
A Trivia Day on March 15, with St. Patrick’s decor and a potato bar, was discussed. Board members voted to approve expenses up to $5,000 for the Trivia Day event.
Other events and project ideas for 2020 included a Fall Festival / Halloween Fun Day, Beginning of Summer Bash, and CrowdSpring.
There was discussion on table flippers, including quantity, which businesses would display them, and content to fill them.
A competition for a logo design for the City of Rock Port was discussed.
The next meeting will be held Thursday, February 13, 2020, at 6:00 p.m.
