The Atchison County Commission met Tuesday, February 4, 2020. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, and North District Commissioner Jim Quimby. Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission, was attending Great Northwest Day in Jefferson City.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bills were reviewed and approved.
Monthly department reports were reviewed and approved.
Prosecuting Attorney Brett Hurst was in to visit with the commission. They discussed office issues.
Road & Bridge Supervisor Adam Meyer was in to discuss department matters.

Additional monthly department reports were reviewed and approved.
Sheriff Dennis Martin was in to discuss concerns about MoDOT closing the access from Highway 275 at the scales on I-29. This is frequently used by emergency personnel that would like to see it remain open. The commission agreed and told Sheriff Martin to move forward with contacting those needed to express concerns.
Clerk Taylor reported on the issues discussed at Great Northwest Day and complimented the Atchison County Development Corporation for an outstanding job on the Atchison County booth. The display “Atchison County Staying Alive” was a disco theme that took first place.
The commissioners and Clerk Taylor participated in a conference call with Cassie Hasekamp and Kim Mildward with the Northwest Missouri Regional Council of Governments to discuss action items that they recommended adding to the Hazard Mitigation Plan. The commissioners agreed with the additions and Cassie will make the changes and submit the plan. All additions will be beneficial in the event of future disasters.

Clerk Taylor presented an amendment to the current lease agreement with Tiffany Care Centers for the commission to review. The commission will review and take action at their next meeting.
