The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held its regular meeting April 16, 2020, by Zoom. The meeting was called to order by Ryan Kingery, Mayor, at 6:36 p.m. Also in attendance were: Kristi Duering, Michael Oswald, Tabitha Wintz, and Beth Graves, Aldermen; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; Danny Kemerling, Treasurer; and John Brown, Water Superintendent.

The aldermen voted unanimously to approve the tentative agenda, the minutes of the regular meeting January 15, 2020, and accounts payable.

Staff Reports

Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer’s report showing that all accounts are in balance.

Lori Helfers asked the council if they would like to postpone city-wide garage sale/clean-up day. After a brief discussion it was decide that Fairfax will follow when Tarkio and Rock Port are having their sales. It seems to bring in more people to take advantage of the sales in Fairfax. The council was in agreement.

Lori informed the council that a new submission deadline for the CDBG grant has been set for August or September.

John Brown discussed different options to work on the city streets and potholes.

After some discussion it was agreed to move forward with the original plan. John and Steve will work on getting the equipment together to start on that project. Coopers donated their equipment to load the milling which is greatly appreciated.

John made a request to have M. Oswald farm the strip of land east of the Fairfax lagoons. After a brief discussion the council approved the request unanimously. Lori will draw up a contract for Michael to sign.

The next meeting is May 20 at 6:30 p.m.
