• Seniors will be recognized at a baccalaureate program Sunday, May 13, and commencement program Thursday, May 17. Both events will be held at the Memorial Building.
• Showing at the Paramount Theatre: “Belle of the Yukon” with Gypsy Rose Lee, Randolph Scott, Dinah Shore, and Bob Burns, and “Meet Me In St. Louis” with Judy Garland.
• Walter’s Store advertised gifts for graduates: perfume bottle sets, $2.49 to $3.49; fancy boxed stationery, 25¢ to $2.49; military brush sets, 69¢ to $6.75; shaving sets, 29¢ to 98¢; and attractive neckties, 49¢ to 98¢.

• The Rock Port Fire Department’s van fund has reached $4,336.45. The department recently accepted bids and has ordered a 1971 Chevrolet heavy duty van for use as an emergency vehicle.
• The Blue Jays’ two-mile relay team won first place in Class S at the State Outdoor Track Meet at Columbia. Team members were Rick Meyerkorth, John Webster, Larry Tharp, and Mike Randall. Also taking first place at the state meet was the mile relay team. Members of that team were Tom Graves, Randy Bunn, Rick Meyerkorth, and John Webster. Mark Randall placed third in the mile run.
• Dwane Bressler, LaVona Reid, and Peggy Gallup were among 152 Tarkio College students to receive their diplomas at the commencement exercises in Schechter Auditorium May 10.

• The Rock Port Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the grand opening of Rock Port Recollections. Owners of the new business are Don and Nancy Teague.
• Rock Port musicians recently competed at the State Band competition. Earning I ratings were Zach Allee, Peter Batschelet, Tara Mianulli, Kyle Barrett, and Jeffrey Fentiman.
• Siblings Stephen and Sarah Gaines of Watson graduated from Peru State College during commencement ceremonies Saturday. Both were outstanding students and athletes at PSC.
