The City of Fairfax Board of Aldermen held a regular meeting September 16, 2020. The meeting was called to order by Michael Oswald, alderman, at 6:34 p.m. Also in attendance were: Kristi Duering, Tabitha Wintz, and Beth Graves, aldermen; Ryan Kingery, mayor; John Brown, Water Superintendent; Lori Helfers, City Clerk; and Danny Kemerling, Treasurer. Visitors were Dan Johnson, Jill Kingery, Angie Malone, and Robert Wilson, Auditor.

The tentative agenda was approved.

Dan Johnson was present to discuss concerns of a nuisance property. The city is aware of the property and has taken care of the weeds and tall grass. The council will continue to monitor this property and see what further action can be taken. Dan left the meeting at 7:50 p.m.

Robert Wilson, City Auditor, was present to discuss the city’s 2019 audit. He presented the audit with no significant findings. Robert left meeting at 7:10 p.m.

Jill Kingery and Angie Malone were present to discuss ordinance issues. Jill and Angie left the meeting at 8:00 p.m.

The aldermen approved the regular minutes of August 19, 2020. They also approved the accounts payable.

Staff Reports–

Danny Kemerling presented his treasurer report showing that all accounts are in balance.

Lori Helfers reported that CDBG was hoping to release the announcement this fall for the street grant. Lori will be on vacation October 1, 2, and 5.

John Brown reported that the storm sewer drain north of the city shop has been replaced.

The city truck will need new brakes and rotors soon.

John received a quote from Nutriject to clean out the lagoons. After a lengthy discussion the aldermen voted unanimously to go ahead with the cleaning of the lagoons.

The next meeting is Wednesday, October 21, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
