Everyone is talking about their plans for Halloween and whether activities will take place as normal, or whether, due to COVID-19, things will be changed. Halloween is still four weeks away, but we want to update you and make suggestions on festivities. The Tarkio Halloween Parade will take place as normal – outside from Farmers State Bank down Main Street to US Bank – but if it rains or is too cold, it will be cancelled. It won’t be held indoors. The Fairfax Spook Parade will include a trunk-or-treat and a spaced-out parade through the city park. Citizens Bank & Trust in Rock Port will not be holding their parade this year. However, they will be delivering goodie bags to all Rock Port students in Pre-K through 6th grade. As for individual trick-or-treating, there are lots of ideas floating around. If you don’t want your children going door-to-door, ask family and friends to do a drive-by parade through the neighborhood and have them throw candy from their cars as the children, decked out in their costumes, stand in the yard. There have also been suggestions of Halloween-themed Easter egg hunts, piñatas, or build a contraption (think zipline) that sends the candy in a bag from the house down to the goblin waiting on the sidewalk. Get creative, have fun, but most importantly, stay safe.
