The Westboro United Methodist Church is hosting the 80th annual Lord’s Acre Festival October 10 and 11 in Westboro, Missouri. This year’s theme is “Looking To The Future.” The weekend will once again be full of fun-filled festivities for people of all ages, but will take place outdoors due to COVID-19 concerns.
Festivities will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, with the sale of crafts, baked goods, and miscellaneous items to be held in a tent outside the church. There will not be a cake contest this year, but people are encouraged to still make their best cakes to be auctioned off. Cakes must be dropped off in the sanctuary by 9:30 a.m.
A parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. with entrants to assemble at the city park on Main Street by 8:30 a.m. Judging will be completed by 9:00 a.m. The parade will end at the school house lot by the ballfield. The parade is open to the public. Join in the fun with your floats, bicyles, ATVs, pets, bands, loads of grain, livestock, antique vehicles, motorcycles, and costumes. Prizes will be awarded to participants.
An auction will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the outdoor tent. Cakes, crafts, grain, and miscellaneous items will be sold. Please drop off your auction items in the church sanctuary. A boxed lunch of ham or chicken and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, pie or cake, and bottled water will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the outdoor tent. Free will donations will be accepted.
A horseshoe tournament will take place at 1:30 p.m. with prices going to 1st place (trophy and money), and 2nd and 3rd place (money).
On Sunday, October 11, a Lord’s Acre Thanksgiving worship service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Join the congregation for a wonderful time praising our Lord God for all His many blessings. For more info, contact Reverend Julie Sanders at 417-599-9222.
