• County Extension Achievement days give farm women from all parts of the county a chance to come together to exchange ideas and to increase their acquaintanceship. This was demonstrated in Atchison County October 19 when 275 women gathered in the auditorium of the Fairfax High School to display their exhibits and present a program.
• Kenneth Volker marketed the first 1945 corn that has been received by the Geiger-Graham elevator in Fairfax Tuesday. The corn was an early maturing variety and of good quality.
• Edgar Stewart is pretty well done with excavation work and cement foundation work on a modern seven room residence on the tract of land he recently purchased off the Martin farm, east of Fairfax. He is also building a 40’x100’ honey extracting and processing plant on the tract with loading dock on the highway.
October 29, 1970
• Some 130 persons signed the guest register at the Corning, Missouri, Christian Church Sunday afternoon during the dedication service. The building was recently completed to replace the one destroyed by fire several months ago.
• The Fairfax Bulldogs continued their winning ways by upending the previously undefeated Rock Port Blue Jays 27-19 at Rock Port Friday night.
• St. Joseph Light and Power has started installing new vapor street lights in the residential area of Fairfax. When complete, this new type, brighter light will replace all of the older lights.
October 26, 1995
• Kenna Demott and Chris Bartlett were crowned queen and king of the Fairfax Football Homecoming. The coronation took place after the Bulldogs had defeated the Mound City Panthers 62-40 Friday night.
• Subscription and advertising prices are going up, effective November 1. Due to a news print price increase and the latest postal increase the increases must be passed on. Counter copies will be $.50 and subscriptions will raise to $18 for local counties, $20 for state of Missouri and $21 for out of state.
