The Atchison County Sheriff’s Office has received reports of citizens receiving calls from people claiming to be with Amazon. It’s been reported the caller stated their Amazon card has been used for a certain amount then asks them to verify their information.

The sheriff’s office wants you to be aware of potential scams going on and be sure of who you’re talking to before giving out personal information. Also, monitor your different accounts regularly. Because of COVID-19, there will be a lot more online shopping this holiday season and sadly that means a lot more scammers preying on vulnerable people. Please check in on the elderly as well. As they try to shop for children and grandchildren online, they can be easy targets for scammers.
