
John C. Carlson, the son of John Peter and Florence Lorraine (Campbell) Carlson, was born December 25, 1933, on the family farm in York Township east of Tarkio, Missouri. John attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, graduating in 1950. He then attended Tarkio College in Tarkio for two years.
On March 24, 1955, John entered the United States Air Force and served his country for four years. He received his honorable discharge on March 23, 1959.
John was employed by Western Electric and Lucent Technologies in St. Louis, Missouri, and Colorado. He worked as an Engineering Tech in Communications. John later returned to Tarkio where he lived and worked on the family farm until retiring in the mid 2000s.
Every year, John planted a huge garden and enjoyed sharing his produce with everyone. John passed away, Thursday, November 19, 2020, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 86.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by siblings, Lila Nebel, Robert Carlson, Norma Carlson, Marilea Nietfeld, and Gordon Carlson. Survivors include siblings, David R. Carlson, Columbia, Missouri, Marjorie (Don) Holloway, Norfolk, Nebraska, and Lynn Carlson, Overland Park, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held Monday, November 23, 2020, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. Interment took place at Home Cemetery, Tarkio. Pastor Jerry Beckenhauer officiated. Military rites were under the auspices of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio. Memorials may be directed to the Tarkio Nutrition Center.
