• The fate of the Fairfax Community Hospital hangs in the balance as multiple conditions close in on the facility to create a cash shortage situation. One hundred sober, serious-minded citizens met Monday evening at the Masonic Hall to discuss it. It was stated that the institution could not continue operation unless money was raised to pay outstanding debts and retire part of the indebtedness against the new addition opened in September, 1969. Dr. E.L. Niedermeyer stated that the loyalty of employees was one of the heartening things which had come from this crisis. Even those who knew they probably would be let go because of personnel cutbacks were strong in their support of the institution. After it was announced that $26,000 had already been donated, other checks were passed to him with more than $10,000 being donated on the spot.

• With the exception of maternity ward beds and two beds reserved for cardiac patients, all rooms at the Fairfax Community Hospital were filled Wednesday morning and one patient was being cared for in the hall.
