Phraseology – the definition according to ‘The Free Dictionary’ is the way in which words and phrases are used in speech or writing and also; a set of expressions used by a particular person. I think you could add directional, north or south of the Mason-Dixon line!

It’s fun to listen for certain nuances in conversation, TV, books – the ones you can see and hear, others only imagine and assign an area. Recently a novel I was reading set in the hills and hollars of Kentucky (yes, I still have kin there) the heroine referred to ‘throwin’ out the baby with the dishwater’ – seems obnoxious – where in the world would that ever happen and what does it mean?

Every section of this country has certain sayings with which they are identified!

FOR A FEW: ‘you all’ who does it include? Will there be room for everybody if we do?

Stand for something or you’ll fall for anything – what if I have bad knees?

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone – how about right after lunch?

Red skies at mornin’ sailor take warning, red skies at nite sailors delite! can we sail at nite?

A watch pot never boils – it will if you turn up the burner!

A personal favorite if I may – Goodbye to yesterday, hello to tomorrow! Perfect for COVID!

Don’t do today what you can put off till tomorrow – wait – did I mis-phrase?
