• Seymours are using a special variety of seed corn for planting valued at $56 per bushel. It will take $11,200 worth of this seed to plant the Seymour acreage.

• Dean Farley, proprietor of the Fairfax Produce Company, is celebrating his first anniversary in business Saturday with an event that should prove of special interest to feed buyers and unusually attractive to women who are offered some special inducements in the form of valuable and much desired premiums – among them an electric ironette and nylon hose.

May 6, 1971

• Mrs. Patricia L. Kiernan, speech therapist, has been employed at Fairfax R-3 in cooperation with Tarkio schools for the coming year. Mrs. Kiernan will work two days each week in the Fairfax school giving aid to students with speech impairments.

• Nearly 200 people were on hand Friday night for the annual FFA parent-son banquet at Fairfax R-3. Fred Wennihan received the Star Chapter Farmer award. The Star Greenhand plaque went to Marion Oswald. Other awards were: Agri-electrification, Denny Muldrew; Crop production, DeWayne Koenig; Agri-mechanics, Richard Oswald; and Livestock production, Danny Johnson.

• “Hey Vaudeville” brings some entertaining antics from an odd group of troupers on the streets of Fairfax this week. The occasion is the annual initiation into the renowned Fairfax Alumni Association.

• Employees of Community Hospital gathered at the Rock Port Country Club to recognize employees for their service. Judy Bradfield was named Employee of the Year for 1995. Judy is a part-time employee and has served as a certified nurse’s aide, ward clerk, and pharmacy aide the past 23 years. She began her duties in 1976 as a nurse’s aide being recognized as a partial to the OB department before construction of the new nursing station and patient care areas were redesigned in 1979.

• Over the Back Fence by Nancy Gaines: “We had a delightful rain Sunday morning. The gauge showed 1 1/4 inch by Monday. Temperatures were in the 50s and it was cloudy.”
