Atchison County veterans recently received Quilts of Valor from the Missouri Freedom Quilters. Tarkio veterans received quilts Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the Tarkio American Legion Building. The locally made quilts were gifted to, from left to right, Tim Morehouse, Dickie Parshall, Donald Lee Martin, Ponya King, Robert Linville, Bob Smith, Don McEnaney, and Charley Jones. Fairfax veterans (pictured below) who received Quilts of Valor, from left to right, were Keith Wensel, Jack Vernon, Dan Fries, Larry Lawrence, Jim Schooler, Bobbie Schooler, Leon Reed, and Dean Wiley. As of last week, the Missouri Freedom Quilters have made and presented 67 Quilts of Valor to local veterans to thank them for their service.
