The Tarkio Rotary Club recently contributed 209 pairs of shoes to the Rotary District 6040’s 20th year of collecting for the Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls drive. Tarkio’s 209th pair put them at 6,000 pairs total donated by the Tarkio Rotary Club for the 20 years they’ve been participating. Tarkio was the sixth stop of 44 and at that time, the caravan had already picked up 886 pairs of shoes, 193 pairs of socks, 100 laces, and $2,389 in cash. Since 1999, Buckner Shoes has collected and distributed nearly 4 million pairs of new shoes, serving children in more than 80 countries.

Rock Port was the seventh stop for the Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls drive. Corey Herron, right, presented a check for $1,000 on behalf of the Rock Port Rotary Club to Larry Lunsford, left.
