Community Hospital Auxiliary met June 17, 2021. President Merylan Lowrey called the meeting to order with 14 members and two guests present. The meeting began with the reciting of the Auxiliary Prayer.
Community Hospital-Fairfax CEO Julie Jones shared with the group about some new changes in healthcare, the clinics, and the hospital. She thanked the group for their work and the support given to the hospital. Members were also given the opportunity to ask Julie questions.
Jan T. read the secretary’s report and Ann M. gave the treasurer’s report. Ann reminded gift shop workers that there are stamps for sale in the gift shop for 55 cents. Ann is beginning to get money from the Pat Fisher Memorial. Gerry moved to approve both reports as read, Amy seconded, and the motion carried.
Committee Reports
Sunshine – The Pat Fisher family designated the Auxiliary as one of the memorials for Pat. Her name will be added to the memorial plaque in the hall at the hospital. Members were reminded to let Marilyn A. know of any members who would need a note of encouragement or is having health or sympathy concerns.
Membership – Sue Carder is putting together a new members list. The group has unfortunately lost some members and are thankful to have gained new members. Therefore, the list needs to be updated. Sue thinks there are currently 52 members. An updated list will be put in an upcoming newsletter. Members were asked to get their dues paid by August 1.
Other committee reports were also given.
The Community Hospital Auxiliary is celebrating its 50th year of service to the hospital. Please watch the paper for various ways the auxiliary will be celebrating. It is hoped that the citizens of Atchison County will join in the celebrations.
The Auxiliary is unable to have its annual quilt raffle this year. The group decided to sell raffle tickets for a laptop computer instead. Marilyn A. talked with Midwest Data Center and they have generously agreed to donate a nice Dell laptop computer. You can purchase tickets from any member or at the hospital gift shop and tickets will also be sold at the auxiliary’s booth at the Fairfax Fair. The tickets will be $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00. The drawing will be held on Saturday night of the Fairfax Fair.
Auxilian of the Year – Robin S. sent a letter out for members to vote on the Auxilian of the Year. The responses she received will be counted with the ballots received during the June meeting to determine who will be the Auxilian of the Year for 2021. Robin and the last five Auxilians of the Year will count the votes. The winner will be announced and recognized at the July meeting.
The auxiliary will meet on July 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the hospital conference room. Anyone with an interest in joining is welcome to come to the meeting. There will not be a meeting in August.
The hospital has invited the members to an appreciation tea at the hospital on Thursday, July 22, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. They are always so kind and creative in their appreciation teas! The members are really looking forward to it.
The meeting was adjourned. Jeanette S. could not be at the meeting, so she volunteered to do the tray favors on her own this month. Thank you, Jeanette!
