The 22nd Annual McAdams Family Reunion was held July 8-11, 2021, at Hickory Hollow Resort in Tightwad, Missouri, with 68 descendants and family friends of Charles “Chub” and Margaret McAdams attending. This year’s reunion theme was the “McAdamy Awards.” Instead of “Oscars,” family members received “Macs” in recognition of their accomplishments and roles throughout the years, such as “long suffering spouse award” and “family curmudgeon.” A “red carpet” event was held with participants wearing costumes to portray movie characters and movie stars. Moana, Wednesday Addams, and Anna Kendrick were a few of the characters/movie stars that made an appearance. Swimming, a weenie roast, birthday celebrations and a dinner catered by family members Cindy McAdams Dean and Steve Riska were other activities. Late night shenanigans around the campfire weren’t dampened by a torrential downpour, but kept on going after finding drier conditions in the shelter house.

Representing the family of the late Charles M. (Bud) McAdams, were Sharon McAdams from Sugar Creek, Missouri; Barb McAdams, Joe McAdams, Patrick, Charles and Sharon McAdams, Evan and Derek McAdams from Independence, Missouri; and Rusty and Mel McAdams from Smithville, Missouri.

Representing the family of the late David McAdams were Kathy Smith, Danny McAdams, Sandy and Mike Sundberg, Joey Sundberg and Sean from Omaha, Nebraska, Amanda Sundberg, Kim Mozley, Brooklyn and Braxton from Claremore, Oklahoma; Patty Esters and Craig Russell from Denver, Colorado, Nautika Esters from Littleton, Colorado, Javias and Charisma Esters from Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mary Plummer from Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Ashley Plummer from Milbank, South Dakota.

Representing the family of the late Robert “Bob” McAdams were Cindy and Ryder Dean, Steve Riska, Bobbie and Trenton Cockrum, and Alexandria McMurphy from Warrensburg, Missouri; Sarah, Cameron, Terri, and Keira Rudzik from Grandview, Missouri; and Jeremy and Sandy Dean from Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Representing the family of the late Alan McAdams were Peggy and Pat Keenan from Colorado Springs; and Patrick, Ashley, Luella, and Gigi Cochran, and Brandon Cochran from Republic, Missouri.

Representing the family of Steve McAdams were Steve and Betty McAdams from Webb City, Missouri; Mindy, Jillian, Andrew, Erin, and Nicki Brown from Rockledge, Florida; and Lesley, Dylan, and Aiden McAdams from Cameron, Missouri.

Representing the family of Mary McAdams were Mary McAdams from Tarkio, Missouri, Frank Simmonds from Falls City, Nebraska, Jamie, Abby, Emma, and Molly McAdams from Kansas City, Missouri, Maxwell McAdams from Albany, New York; and Maggie, Ryan, Joe, Sam, and Cate Crawford from Kansas City.

Next year’s reunion will be held July 7-10 at Hickory Hollow in Tightwad with “McHighland Games” being the theme.
