The Tarkio R-I Board of Education met July 21, 2021, at Tarkio High School. The meeting was called to order by board president Garrett Wood at 7:00 p.m. Board members attending were: Jamie Barnett, Heather Olson, and Josh Wright. Ann Schlueter joined the meeting at 7:04 p.m. and Chris Yates joined the meeting at 7:29 p.m. Sam Hannah was absent. Others in attendance were board secretary Lanette Hogue, Tarkio R-I Superintendent Carrie Livengood, Tarkio Elementary Principal/Tarkio R-I Special Education Director Kari Taylor, Rachel Meyer and Dallas Prather.

The board approved the consent agenda and the district obligations.

Rachel Meyer gave an update on the TAC. She reported that they have held volleyball league and several camps at the TAC. She has met with her dance and gymnastic teachers and started talking about how classes will look in the fall.

Superintendent Livengood gave a financial report and reported that the school ended 2020-21 $1.073 million in the black. The ESSER 111 Budget will open July 23, 2021, and the district will have until September of 2024 to spend the funds. However, there are strict guidelines on how the funds can be used. An MSIP/CSIP update was given. MSIP 6 is likely going to be in effect for the 2022-2023 school year. The scoring for this is much more complex and difficult than MSIP 5. This may bring new assessments with it as well. Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Livengood have put together the first draft of the CSIP plan and sent it to NWRPDC for feedback.  D

Baseball Field renovations were tabled.

Ann Schlueter moved and Heather Olson seconded to approve the kindergarten- 5th grade science curriculum. The motion carried 6-0.

Chris Yates moved and Heather Olson seconded to approve the bid from Chuck Salfrank for all activity and graduation pictures for the 2021-2022 school year. The motion passed 6-0.

Terry Wooten will be moving to middle school science and Joe Unternahrer will be moving back to middle school social studies.

Ann Schlueter moved and Jamie Barnett seconded to adopt the Conflict of Interest Policy 0342. The motion carried 6-0.

The board unanimously voted to approve the ACES contract.

Mrs. Taylor gave a summer school program evaluation.

The board voted to approve the elementary and high school handbooks as presented.

Ann Schlueter moved and Jamie Barnett seconded to set the Tax Rate Hearing for August 18, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. The motion carried 6-0.

Kari Taylor was approved as the Homeless Coordinator.

The district changed the carrier of the student accident insurance for the 2021-22 school year due to Markel no longer offering insurance to our students. Information regarding the new company will be posted on the school website and handed out at registration.

Jamie Barnett moved and Chris Yates seconded to remove Karma Coleman from all Tarkio R-I bank accounts and add Carrie Livengood to all Tarkio R-I bank accounts. The motion carried 6-0.

The bid from Waldinger Corporation for a new hot water system in the amount of $63,879.00 was approved.

Jamie Barnett moved and Josh Wright seconded to approve the resignation of Marilyn Brandenburg. The motion carried 6-0.
