The Rock Port Tourism Board met Thursday, July 21, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. at Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Holly Huntley, Mike Farmer, Preston Jones, Tami Lansdown, Angela Mace, and Jody VanSickle. Amy Alexander was absent. City Clerk Emily Schulte was also present.
The meeting agenda was approved.
Members also voted to approve the April 8, 2021, meeting minutes and the April, May, and June 2021 financials.
An email was received from Chamber President Jim Clodfelter. The Tourism Board was asked if they would be interested in cost-sharing the $950.70 insurance policy taken out for the 4th of July fireworks show. Board members unanimouusly approved reimbursing the Chamber the full amount of this year’s firework show insurance premium of $950.70.
Prospective members for the Tourism Board were discussed.
A request for $3,500 for the 4th of July Fireworks Fund was received from Dan Athen. The request was approved.
Discussion on the Turbine Site Cleanup & Maintenance Agreement was tabled.
Three quotes for light pole banners were presented for review. The bid from Street Décor for 64 banners, 16 of each four designs, at $90.00 per banner was confirmed.
Four designs were selected for street light Christmas lighting, eight of each design, 32 total. Holly will contact Street Décor to get the ordering process finalized.
Mike is looking into Crowd Spring. The youth portion of the logo competition is wrapping up and no more submissions will be accepted.
Everyone is to review the different website designs to see which they prefer prior to the August meeting where they will be discussed.
Tami is looking at hosting the quilt show October 23. The date still needs confirmed with the school. The vendor market will no longer be held at the same time as the quilt show. November might be a good time for that.
Old Fashioned Saturday Night activities will be discussed at the next meeting.
The next meeting date will be held August 12, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.
