The Pitch Club met August 10 at Deb Johnson’s house in Rock Port. It was a beautiful afternoon and I love driving the short cut between Route J and her home. I recommend that drive to all nature lovers. Deb told me it used to be called “Thrill Hills.” I never drive that fast so to me it is the natural beauty of the land that I love.
Our hostess had the high score of the afternoon with Merylan Lowrey earning second high and Susan Braams having low score. Deb served a Red Wheel pie called “fruit of the forest.” I asked what was in it and she said just all kinds of fruit and berries. The cool whip that I piled high on it made it all the better. Deb also had a second choice, of watermelon, and I believe it was Susan Braams who topped the watermelon with cool whip. I had never thought about serving cool whip with watermelon. Is this a new custom?
I didn’t catch much of the gossip for I was busy talking to Jada, the Schnauzer, who was wearing a skirt that was quite charming. Yes, that statement is not a misprint. She was wearing a skirt. Deb said it helped her nervousness when unusual events occurred.
As usual, the day ended with laughter and everyone looked at their watch, commenting how late it was. It’s hard to leave a good party.
