I can’t believe the time is here to start the 2021-2022 school year. As we all know, the 2020-2021 school year was one we’ll never forget. I can’t say enough about how hard our teachers worked and how much time outside of school they put in to ensure students were receiving the best education possible. Unfortunately, we may have another school year adjusting to the ever-changing pandemic. The Tarkio School District will continue to strive to create a positive learning environment for all students and staff. As we start school, masks will not be required, but will always be available for any student, staff, or visitor. We will continue to work with the Atchison County Health Department in staying current with community infectious rates as well as current guidelines.

Our teachers will return to their classrooms on August 18 and spend four days preparing, meeting, and participating in professional development. We will hold open house on August 23 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Students are welcome to bring school supplies and meet their teachers. August 24 is the big day . . . the first day for students! School will begin at 8:00 a.m., with doors opening at 7:40 a.m. The first two days of school will be 12:30 p.m. dismissals for students.

As I begin my 17th year in the district, I still get excited at the thought of seeing all the students again. I am looking forward to another wonderful school year full of learning, laughing, activities, and new experiences.
