The Tarkio College Alumni Association held its annual Alumni Homecoming this past weekend in Tarkio. Those in attendance enjoyed a number of activities held on the college campus and around town.

Outstanding Alumni Award
Pat Kellenbarger presented the Outstanding Alumni Award to Sheila Kinsey Kellenbarger (’68), who was introduced by her daughter. (Mary McAdams photos)

Outstanding Arts Award
Bob McCoy presented posthumously an Outstanding Arts Award to Dr. Walter Greene, who was noted for his musical work in Hollywood. Bob, on behalf of the McCoy family, also presented the mural of Rankin Hall that was painted on the wall of the Walnut Inn by his late aunt Edna O’Dell to the Tarkio College Alumni Association. It will hang in Rankin Hall once it is framed.

1972-73 TC Men’s Basketball Team inducted into Hall of Fame
Coach Wayne Davidson, middle, introduced the 1972-73 Tarkio College Men’s Basketball Team, which was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame this year. Some of the players present from that team included Mike Atkins, Mark Dalbey, Charles Parker, and Paul Fell.

Hall of Fame
Esther Taggert Kremer (’85) was inducted into the Tarkio College Athletic Hall of Fame for softball and basketball achievements. She was introduced by her friend, Diane Chambers Hedrick. Esther also accepted and thanked the association for a scholarship award presented to her son, Dillon Kremer.

Special Awards
ABOVE – Bob Lang (’73) received a Special Service Award for his efforts and contributions to Tarkio College’s much improved HVAC system. Linda Brunk Smith is retiring as president of the Tarkio College Alumni Association and was presented with a hat and flowers. BELOW – Harlan, Linda’s husband, has spent countless hours helping Linda and TCAA so he was presented with this hat.


Tarkio College alumni were treated to a premiere viewing of a documentary on Brewer & Shipley, which was made to commemorate their 50th anniversary of their Tarkio album released in 1970. The movie included a few clips of their performance in Tarkio 10 years ago.
