The East Atchison Fall Homecoming Week is underway! The students at Tarkio and Fairfax High Schools are celebrating throughout the week with a number of special activities, which will end with the Wolves’ football game Friday night against Mound City at 7:00 p.m. in Tarkio. The coronation will follow.

ACTIVITIES
The EA cheerleaders and Tarkio/Fairfax bands (field show), and the new dance team will all perform at halftime. The Tarkio High School 1971 State Champion Football Team will also be recognized at halftime as it is the 50th anniversary of the team’s tremendously successful season.
Tarkio’s homecoming theme is “Bright Lights, Big City!” Classes have picked cities to go along with the theme: New York City, seniors; Las Vegas, juniors; Nashville, sophomores; Los Angeles, freshmen; Miami, eighth graders; Dallas, seventh graders; and Chicago, sixth graders. Each class will decorate a banner to hang in the hallways and be judged as part of the overall homecoming contest.
Fairfax’s homecoming theme is “Holidays.” Classes have picked holidays to go with the theme: Halloween, seniors; Christmas, juniors; New Year’s, sophomores; Easter, freshmen; Independence Day, eighth graders; and Thanksgiving, seventh graders. The students will decorate hallways in the school and businesses downtown: seniors – history/science hallway and lumber yard; juniors – between cafeteria/old gym and city hall; sophomores – between new/old gym and old grocery; freshmen – Koop’s hallway and Lonnie’s Barbershop; eighth graders – English/guidance hallway and Dairy Diner; and seventh graders – math hallway and KG Buds.
Tarkio’s Homecoming dress-up days include: Wednesday – Twinning is Winning (twin day, dress the same as someone); Thursday – Party in the USA (wear red, white and blue/stars and stripes); and Friday – EA Wolves Spirit and Pride (wear black, silver, and orange). Fairfax’s homecoming dress-up days include: Wednesday – Ugly Sweater; Thursday – USA Day; and Friday – Spirit Day.
Tarkio’s homecoming class contests include: Wednesday – dance off; Thursday – volleyball match; and Friday – parade at 1:30 p.m. on Main Street followed by a pep assembly at the football field. Fairfax’s homecoming contests include: Wednesday – cookie eating contest; Thursday – class dodgeball; and Friday – egg toss.
Tarkio students will paint the following business windows: Post Office, seniors; ABY Fitness, juniors; Farmers State Bank, sophomores; Avalanche, freshmen; Hurst Law Office, eighth graders; and Soaksem Clean, seventh graders.
A bonfire, to be attended by all East Atchison students, athletes, and fans, will take place Wednesday, September 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fairfax football field. The students are to wear white as there will be a color battle sponsored by the East Atchison Booster Club. The coaches and senior athletes will give speeches and the cheerleaders will lead everyone in cheers.
A jersey auction, to be attended by all East Atchison students, athletes, and fans, will be held Thursday, September 30, at the TAC following the East Atchison volleyball games. Bids will have a minimum of $25 and a maximum of $100. Money raised will be split evenly between Fairfax and Tarkio with Tarkio’s proceeds going to National Honor Society.
