Three juveniles received minor injuries in a one-vehicle accident Sunday, October 3, one mile northeast of Tarkio, Missouri, on Route 0. The wreck occurred at 4:25 p.m. when a vehicle carrying three juveniles and driven by a 17-year-old from Fairfax, Missouri, entered a curve and failed to make the turn. The vehicle went off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment, going airborne and landing. The vehicle continued on and drove into another embankment, overturning and spinning end of end before coming to rest in the ditch.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by an Atchison-Holt ambulance to Community Hospital-Fairfax. A 16-year-old passenger from Tarkio, who was wearing a seat belt, was transferred to the hospital in Fairfax by his father. A 15-year-old passenger from Fairfax was transported to the hospital in Fairfax by an Atchison-Holt ambulance.

The vehicle was totaled and towed by Double M Towing of Rock Port, Missouri. The accident was investigated by Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper S.S. Base, who was assisted by the Atchison County Sheriff’s Office and the Atchison-Holt Ambulance Service.
