A Wildcat running back was met at the line of scrimmage by Corbyn Jakub, Phillip Herron and Colten Stevens.

The Rock Port Blue Jays hosted the Wildcats from Southwest Livingston on Friday night, October 8, 2021, at Blue Jay Stadium in high school football action. The Jays won the toss and elected to receive the ball to start the game.

Phillip Herron caught the short kick and gave the Blue Jays the ball on the 28 yard line. On the third play from the line of scrimmage, quarterback Aidan Burke hit Micah Makings on a quick out and Micah took it 50 yards for the first score. Micah also added a two-point conversion, giving the Jays an 8-0 lead. Jarrett Hunter attempted an on-side kick and gave the Wildcats the ball on the 40 yard line to start their first possession.

Southwest Livingston moved the ball down to the Rock Port 25 yard line before fumbling the ball, getting a penalty. Jays Trulin Pankau, Aidan Burke and Corbyn Jakub all had sacks moving the ball back across midfield. Facing a fourth down at the 35 yard line, the Wildcats tried a fake punt and were stopped short, giving the Jays the ball on their 38 yard line.

Phillip Herron would be the next to put six points on the board. The two point attempt was no good making the score 14-0. The Wildcats would have some success moving the ball before turning it over on downs, giving the Jays the ball on the 11 yard line. Two plays later, Phillip Herron would go around the left side and scramble 60 yards to the end zone. Rock Port would end the first quarter with a score of 20-0.

The next possession for the Wildcats would score their first touchdown and get the extra point, bringing the score to 20-8. Rock Port would score a safety and eventually four more touchdowns before the half to give the Jays a 54-8 lead over the Wildcats. The coaches met and agreed to continue playing the second half, allowing the junior varsity players to see most of the action. The game ended with a final score of 68-14 Rock Port.

Rock Port moved to 5 and 2 on the season and will travel to Oregon, Missouri, this Friday, October 15, to take on the South Holt Knights. The game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
