The Westboro Lions Club and Helping Hands Family are working together through a fundraiser Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Westboro Fire Station in Westboro, Missouri. The hunters’ breakfast will be served from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. and the meat-a-plenty meal will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Meals will be dine-in or carry-out. A free will offering will be accepted.

Many in the community supported the first Westboro Lions “Meat-A-Plenty” fundraiser last year. The Westboro Lions Club raised enough money to significantly impact food insecurity in Atchison County.  The money raised by the Westboro Lions Club has delivered 540 dozen eggs, 604 pounds of pasta, 114 five-pound bags of potatoes, 403 loaves of bread, 408 cans of vegetables plus other assorted meat, crackers, and yogurt to the Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry and Community Services.

Half way around the world, in the impoverished village of Rorke’s Drift, South Africa, Helping Hands Family brings hope through Nutrition, Education, and Empowerment. Helping Hands Family is a Missouri non-profit charity started in 2015 in Atchison County, Missouri. The money raised last year provided food for impoverished preschool children at the Amoibe Primary School. There is no government assistance for preschool so this nutrition program is critical to the health and physical development of these young growing minds.
