November is National Kindness Month. At Pleasant View we are basing some of our monthly activities around kindness.

Our week started with our regular Bingo games!

Tuesday we put up a thankful tree. The residents got to color a leaf to add to the tree. They were asked to write what they are thankful for on their leaf. Janice Sparks wrote, “I am thankful for my piano talent, for my boys, and to have God in my life.” Anna Rosenbohm celebrated her 95th birthday in November, and her leaf reads, “I am thankful for being alive as long as I have been.” It was fun to listen to the residents talk about what all they have to be thankful for.

We have started a baking club with a few of the ladies who spent a lot of time baking at home and said they really enjoyed baking. This week they chose to make homemade sugar cookies and frosting. We gathered around our table and everyone got to take part in adding and mixing the ingredients. Alene Trueblood said she remembers making cookies with her children and having to keep her kiddos from eating all of the dough. About that time Betty Henry and Elaine Schwindt were caught licking their spoons. (Don’t worry, we were done with them.)
