There were 52 new COVID-19 cases reported to the Atchison County Health Department January 10-16, 2022. They are:
3 females, 2 males – ages 0-9
3 females, 3 males – ages 10-19
4 females, 2 males – ages 20-29
5 females, 6 males – ages 30-39
3 females, 6 males – ages 40-49
4 females, 1 male – ages 50-59
1 female, 5 males – ages 60-69
3 females – ages 70-79
1 male – age 80+
As of January 16, 2022, a total of 1,108 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Atchison County and 21 deaths. There are currently 50 active cases, and three active COVID-19 hospitalizations in our local hospital. The current 7-day testing positivity rate is 28.7%.
COVID-19 TESTING
As you are likely well aware, there is a nationwide shortage of rapid COVID-19 antigen tests and an increased demand for tests as case counts continue to climb. The Atchison County Health Department receives tests from the State of Missouri and were notified that the state has not received any new supply from the manufacturer.
Atchison County Health Department is out of rapid antigen tests at this time; however, call and they can provide you with information on testing options.

Community testing will be available January 23, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Remington Nature Center Parking Lot, 1502 MacArthur Drive, St. Joseph, Missouri.

COVID VACCINE UPDATES
Everyone ages 5 and up is eligible for COVID-19 vaccination in Missouri.
Booster doses of Pfizer (given at least five months after initial series) are available for those 12 and up.
Booster doses of Moderna (given at least five months after initial series) are available for those 18 and up.
Booster doses of Johnson & Johnson (given at least two months after an initial series) are available for those 18 and up.
Third doses of Pfizer for immunocompromised individuals (given at least 28 days after second dose) are currently authorized under an amended EUA for immunocompromised individuals ages 5 and up.
Third doses of Moderna for immunocompromised individuals (given at least 28 days after second dose) are also authorized under an amended EUA for immunocompromised individuals ages 18 and up.
Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose.
Individuals do not need to get their booster shot at the same location they received their initial series.

COVID-19 Vaccination Rates
Atchison County has continued to rank in the top 10 since the state started tracking. For total population, Atchison County is ranked eighth in the state with 53.6% of residents completing vaccinations and ranked ninth in the state with 56.6% of residents receiving at least one COVID vaccine dose. COVID-19 Vaccine
Atchison County Health Department has all three vaccines available – Johnson & Johnson, Moderna and Pfizer. COVID-19 vaccines are free and appointments are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Pfizer is the vaccine available for those ages 5 years of age and older. Anyone age 5-17 will need an adult present during the vaccination. Getting an annual flu vaccine is the first and best way to protect yourself and your family from the flu. Everyone six months of age and older should get a flu vaccine every season.
