The Pitch Club met Tuesday, January 25, at Martha’s Bed and Breakfast, with Merylan Lowrey hosting. Present were Merylan Lowrey, Martha Shaffer, Susan Braams, Janell McQuinn, Pam Cooper, Georgia Gilley, Sharon Smith and me. Norma Bradfield was under the weather, so Sharon was her substitute. Norma, you are in our thoughts and prayers, get well quickly!

This week’s discussion was centered around the Chiefs game and how Mahomes and Kelce make it look so easy. We are all looking forward to watching this Sunday’s game, with a little bit less stress! Let’s get ’er done boys! Super Bowl Bound!

Neuropathy and diabetes were short-lived conversations as the mood swings fast with illness. But the big topic was computers and the troubles we have as they are updated so quickly. Issues seem to be consistent in the group that cursers jump around on the screen and words are typed somewhere other than the planned positions. And users are being told by technicians to simply reload programs that we can’t even find! Martha brought up the WOW computers with fewer bells and whistles are available for ‘senior’ users. (Of course, none of us qualify for that label.) It is something we can check out as we grow older than dirt!

After six games of play, this week’s high score was mine, second high went to Pam and low scorer was Merylan. We keep reminding each other that it’s just a game and we play for fun! If anyone is interested in playing Canasta, give Martha a call. There are a few who would like to play that card game regularly, as well!.

Great snacks along with a scrumptious dessert were served by Merylan. Unfortunately, I am no baker and I neglected to listen when the description was given but, I was the first finished and it was wonderful! I believe it was either a pumpkin or carrot cake with that marvelous cream cheese icing! (Merylan, forgive me if it was neither of the two and Darryl, I hope you got some of the leftovers!) Either way, we had a great time and laughed to the limits. It’s good for the soul!
