The 15th Atchison County Battle of the Books will be held Friday, March 25, at the Tarkio Resource Center. The teams are comprised of fourth through sixth graders, three to four members each, from Fairfax, Rock Port, and Tarkio. They read 12 Mark Twain Award books and answer questions as a team. Usually there are 10-12 teams competing to win special prizes and the pencil award for their school. Home schooled students also participate. Copies of the books are in all three schools and also in the three branches of the Atchison County Library.
