Several Atchison County students who dance at Bearcat Boogie Dance Studio in Maryville, Missouri, competed at Starpower Regionals Dance competition in Wichita, Kansas, March 24-27, 2022. Results from the event that were turned in to the newspaper follow:

• Adrianna Wallace, 5th grader at Rock Port, competed in 7 routines – Jazz duo “BobbleHead” won 1st place category winner; Musical theater duo to Tuck Everlasting “Partner In Crime” with Declan McRaven won 1st place category and 9th place overall; Hip hop trio “Black Pink Remix” won 1st place category winner and 5th overall; Lyrical group “Rescue” 1st place category winner and 5th overall; Clogging line with 20 students “Stronger Together” won 1st place category winner, 1st place Overall, and The Regional Entertainment Award; Ballet duo “Most Girls” with Arianna Shimmel won 1st category winner, 8th overall, and a judges awards “Most Beautiful Smiles”; and Solo “Beauty” a contemporary spoken word piece about the struggles to fit into the stereotypes about beauty placed 1st in category and 8th Overall.

• Declan McRaven, 8th grader at Rock Port, competed in 4 routines – Musical Theater solo to Hamilton “Nonstop” won the judges award for “Broadway Bound” dancer; Musical theater small group “Live In Living Color” got 1st place category and 4th overall; Musical theater duo to Tuck Everlasting “Partner In Crime” with Adrianna Wallace won 1st place category and 9th place overall; and Hip hop small group “Old School Remix” 1st place category and 3rd overall.

• Zoe Madron, 8th grader from Tarkio – Lyrical solo earned 4 3/4 stars; Hip hop trio earned 5 stars, 1st in Category and 2nd Overall; Clogging small group earned 5 stars, 1st in Category, 3rd Overall, Judges’ Award for “Sensational Sounds,” Golden Ticket to World Dance Championship in New York for being 1 of 15 Highest Scoring Routines of the entire weekend; and Clogging line earned 4 3/4 stars, 1st in Category, 1st Overall, and the Regional Entertainment Award.

• Avery Schomburg, 4th grader from Rock Port – Jazz Trio earned 4 3/4 stars; Duo with Hadley earned 5 stars, 1st in Category, and 5th Overall; Duo with Lola earned 4 3/4 stars; Lyrical Solo earned 5 stars, 1st in Category, 2nd Overall, and she received the PowerPak Invitation.

• Zoe Riley, kindergartner from Rock Port – placed 1st in five routines and had four high scores.

• Lyzabeth Driskell, kindergartner from Tarkio – placed 1st in 2 routines and earned 4 1/2 stars on her solo dance.
